We are still busy on 811 and since my health scare it's been an issue to get the jobs sorted. Pam didn't let me in the workshop for ages LOL. I should get the all clear from the cardiologist this week which will see 811 back on track at Woodford Glen's Boxing Day meeting.
Meantime I have a diff to re-assemble plus exhaust and steering to complete. Gotta thank Grant Dacombe for doing all the steel work and welding while I was laid up. Glen & Casey for their panel and bodywork efforts and Kaiapoi Collision Centre for the speedy paintwork.
Les Hunter Racing Products are making the replacement spare suspension arms for us and a couple of workmates are sorting some jobbing work for us too, thanks heaps team.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and see ya's Boxing Day. Cheers ... Flash.

Well it's been really busy in the
811 workshop up till this week when I caught a bug dammit. Glen has been manufacturing and painting bits. Fran has been cleaning/sorting and refitting bits. I have been designing and manufacturing suspension items and a new front engine mount. The new engine is sitting in place. Currently have new header plates underway. Parts are arriving from the paint shop. Still heaps more to do and less than 80 days till race day.

Jun 2015
Hi everyone. Here's the winter workshop update for ya's. And yes we have been extremely busy working on 811.
A lot of various alterations are being made to the chassis. A new rear suspension set-up is being designed from scratch and constructed in-house. Am hoping this will work out okay LOL. Gotta thank both Les Hunter Racing Products and Kaiapoi Trailers for their assistance with supplying material and tooling.
We are also tidying up some steering and brake line mountings. Plus changing the roll cage, roof and bonnet positions somewhat to tidy up the lineal appearance of the car which has bugged me for a while.
The diff is nearly finished but can't go back in the car until we get all the new mountings etc back from being plated.
Glen has been making new aluminium panels flat out which I need to get to the powder coaters. Plus he is going to tidy up and re-coat the chassis alterations after all the welding I have been doing.
We are in the process of fitting some different mufflers so the exhaust system requires a fair bit of alteration plus new mounts made for the mufflers.
The front hubs and stubs have all been re-built. Plus the steering rack and power steer ram including the spares have all been overhauled as well.

The fibreglass repairs and alterations are nearing completion then it's off to the North Canterbury Collison Repair Centre in Kaiapoi for the finishing touches and paint.

That's about all I can report on for now. Next update we will have some new information regarding engine :)
Keep warm. Cheers ... Flash

April 2015
We have stripped the engine down after the death rattle while 811 was winning the feature race at Cromwell.
It's not as bad as expected but still a lot of work to do over the off season. We are investigating some engine options (rebuild versus new) at present and will only go for what provides the same or better throttle response and torque that we had before.
The rest of the car is also getting stripped down and checked. Although 811 is performing the best it ever has, we are altering the rear suspension somewhat to give us a little more adjustment and a better chance of more side bite in the car. We will still have all the original links in the car as well so there will be plenty of options to get the car to match the various track surfaces. Gonna be very interesting to see how this pans out.
All the fibreglass body panels are being repaired or renewed and painted along with a heap of the alloy panels.
Also changing a bunch of other stuff like the exhaust system so gonna be another busy winter in the 811 workshop.
For Sale ... Yes 811 is also available for purchase so if you are interested give me a call on (027)229-4644.

Only a couple of weeks to go before our race season gets underway at Woodford Glen Speedway. Gotta say that we are really stoked to have Vinyl Source come on board with the team. They have been supplying Nees Graffix with sign writing media for many years and to have now them supporting our racing is very much appreciated. Simon & the team have done a great job helping us with our trailer signage too ... Thanks heaps for your support.
Great job thanks Glen with getting the large format signage on without any hassle.

Firstly ... I'm knackered.
Been a real busy few weeks in the 811 camp. The car is progressing slowly with a clean out of the electrical system and some new gauges to be fitted. Glen has been busy making new alloy panelling which has just returned from powder-coating. I have created myself a monster job with the purchase of a new covered in transporter. This is a project which needs sorting as it was un-completed when we bought it with the rear door and mechanisms to be fitted. Plus a full fit-out such as bench, spares locating, wiring, air, lighting, sounds, winch the list goes on the more I look. Had the pleasure of Kevin Moore joining us for a few days to sort a lot of the welding work such as latch manufacturing and ramps etc. Looking forward to getting this job done but somehow I think it will always be a bit of a work in progress.

The boy's have been busy in the workshop again. It's often difficult to get motivated over winter but the new workshop for 811 isn't too bad temperature wise. Very pleased we put all that insulation in during the home build. The main mission today was to complete the steel fabrication work and progress went so well that we actually got everything welded up as well. Thanks heaps to both my crew man Glen and Kevin of Kaiapoi Trailers. We also have the new body panels at Kaiapoi Panel & Paint getting the right colour applied (white of course). The next task is to finish tidying any existing panelwork before we get into the mechanical bits. The graphic design will remain the same for season start at least but maybe a change could be coming mid-season so watch this space!

Dec 2013
After a great start to the season
and the Elf Super Cup Series we have been trying to improve the engine response. We have done a bit of testing at the BRT test track to eliminate some stuff that you don't normally get a chance to do at a race meeting. We even blew out the front driveshaft during testing but at least it didn't cost us a heat at a race meeting LOL. Although the engine misfire is proving to be somewhat beneficial at times when it acts as traction control it would be preferred if we could fix it properly. With the help of Kevin Moore we are trying some different injectors and altering the fueling system settings somewhat. Can t wait to see if we have sorted it or at least heading in the right direction.

Been real busy working on 811
. Gotta thank a bunch of people for helping out too. Natasha Rodgers, Warren Slee and Glen Campbell have all been assiting whch is very much appreciated. Nearly got everything we need to get the engine fired up too. Canterbury Powder Coaters have made a great job on all the new panelwork, bumpers and rims. If you need any powder coating I can recommend Blair and his team to get the job done.
Not far off having the new fibreglass bodywork done then off to the paint shop and back here for signwriting. Looking forward to getting this sorted too. Although fast running out of time we hope to have 811 ready to go soon.

Yeeehaaa!!! Finally got a bit more done on 811 today. Thanks heaps to both Warren and Kevin for putting in the hard yards on such a nice day. Warren got stuck into the headers and hopefully once we have a new set of header plates designed and off for laser cutting we should see this job made a whole lot easier in future. Kevin (kaiapoitrailers.co.nz) along with his boys put in a great effort too and we now have a basis for the new rear guards to be started. I am starting to get a bit concerned regarding time frame. The start of the new season is approaching waaaaaay too fast and I really think we are in trouble!!! Especially since all entry and membership fees have been paid so guess I better head off to bed so I can get an early start in the morning ... even though it's Fathers Day LOL

Hooray ... We finally have 811 at the new home
and what better task to carry first but fit the refreshed engine.
Probably should be getting stuck into more important areas but hey at least it looks like we have achieved something.
Thanks heaps to the crew for sorting things out over the last couple of nights. Aaron, David and new guy Warren. Couldn't do it without your help thanks guy's. Hope you choose to stay on a bit longer Aaron cos your help is very much appreciated plus we have a wicked season ahead of us LOL. If anyone else out there wants to join a fun race team then give me a call. Cheers for now ... Flash

Our new home has taken priority this month and looking forward to moving in soon. Aim is to get the workshop floor painted then get 811 ready for a heap of work.
The new suspension components have returned from plating so we can get those assembled and installed to get 811 back on it's wheels. The engine is going back together and although I haven't been on-site MP Performance have sent some progress photos.

3rd May 2013
Our new house build is well underway and it is now also going to become the new home for the 811 Super Saloon. Which reminds me ... 811.co.nz is now a runner too LOL. It has been great to have the hospitality and use of the BRT workshop over the past 4 seasons and it is very much appreciated. Bruce, Lynda and Josh have been very supportive of our racing and if it wasn't for this we wouldn't have been on track at all. So a huge thanks goes out to them.
This week we completed the weld repairs to the chassis after it's big roll-over at Easter. The rear shocks are heading overseas for overhaul (thanks to Dennis Bolt) and Les Hunter Racing Products are busy with our suspension and brake components. Les and I think we have developed a cure for the ongoing right rear suspension problem so I'm looking forward to implementing this and determining it's success over the next season.
MP Performance already have the engine in their new facility for it's rebuild and we have an order in for some go faster bits with Gotelli Speed Shop stateside.
Aaron and David have stripped most of the aluminium panelling from the car and this will be remanufactured over winter along with some new bodywork for the rear of the car which is to be designed by ourselves. We have a replacement axle to put into the quick change diff plus the bird cages are currently being reworked and new bearings installed. Some of the wheels are already with Elite Wheel Company for sorting. The front suspension is staying in the car for now. This way 811 can become mobile once we have sorted the rear end and be ready for the move once the house is finished.
So although we have a heap of work to do at least things are underway. Could always do with some more assistance in the workshop though so if you have a bit of engineering experience and decent skills give me a call on (027)229-4644.
We are looking forward to the annual Elf Super Cup Prizegiving function which is in Queenstown in June. That's gonna be a huge party!!! Meantime though ... it's back to work on 811 parts.
Cheers ... Flash

4th April 2013
Gonna be all go in the workshop over the winter months. We obviously have the roll-over repairs to be done and we spent a bit of time this week starting to strip the car down. Aaron has been concentrating on the bodywork and aluminium panelling. The plan is to create a new rear body panel design which has seperate rear guards which should lessen the repairs Aaron has to do throughout the season. I know that 35n Mark Carey is also keen on this concept cos repairing/maintaining the one-piece Corvette rear ends can become tedious.
The engine
is also to be freshened and hopefully a minor upgrade. Much of the suspension and critical fittings need some sort of attention somewhere. So it's gonna be "full-on". Still plenty of room on the team for anyone with racecar experience who would like to join us? Just give me a call on (027)229-4644.

It's another big effort in the workshop this week. We got the trip down to Invercargill this weekend for the Elf Super Cup Round 3 and the South Island Super Saloon Championships. It's been a long time since I raced there and the track has been upgraded so really looking forward to the racing.
We have the Bert gearbox apart sorting the internal clutch hydraulic problem and also tidying up a few last minute chores to ensure we are ready. I gotta thank Aaron and David for all their help cos we always have a list of stuff that somehow manages to get done. Also gotta thank BRT for their on-going use of their workshop and encouragement.
Good Luck to all the competitors this weekend and "Let's have some Fun!"

29th September 2012
All go in the workshop again today. Aaron & I put in a huge effort to get 811 almost ready for a run at practice next weekend. Replacement injectors arrived from the states this week so the motors a runner again. Plus the stickers are nearly all finished too. Gotta pluck the diff out yet and fit the new crown wheel & pinion so gonna be all go wednesday night. Providing we don't have any problems ... See ya's at the Glen next saturday.

Apart from taking a break for our trip to the states there has always been plenty happening on 811. Even from the last race week in April it seems bit's and pieces of the car have visited various workshop's and suppliers to be prepared for the huge season ahead. And I gotta say I'm really looking forward to the first race day. I think we are on target to be ready which is also very encouraging. Aaron and I took the car to Woodford Glen last weekend for it's initial scrutineering session. Good to see the car flew thru without any issues so I'm off to play golf. See Ya's.
Cheers ... Flash P.S. hope ya like the new graphic design.

A real good effort put in at the workshop this week. A huge thanks to Shiney from Rangiora Exhaust Centre for all your help with the new mufflers. Got these coated during the week and fitted today. Fired the engine up too which means we are getting close. However a cracked injector slowed progress so I've ordered replacements from the states so waiting/waiting again GRRRR!!! Our intended race calendar is now on-line too. The racing season is approaching fast so need to get ready for scrutineering/green sheet next weekend. Cheers for now ... Flash

Firstly I appologise for my lack of updates over winter but our trip to the states took priority LOL. The winter rebuild on 811 is progressing slowly but steadily. We have a couple of new partnership arrangements to assist us this season plus a couple of new team members helping out in the workshop. We welcome on board the support of Pineacres Restaurant & Bar plus Rangiora Exhaust Centre. And on the team we have Ministock racer David Pickles and fellow aircraft engineer Angelo Lee who have chosen to help out in the workshop. Thanks heaps guy's.
I am trying to develop a new rear body design to better suit our car and to help modernise the look however Aaron has realised my lack of progress and decided to ressurect the old panels LOL.
A huge thanks goes out to Les & Gail Les from Les Hunter Racing Products. I purchased some new sprint car hubs for the front suspension and Les has spent a lot of time modifying the fitment of these to cure our breakage/reliability issues we had last sesason. Plus they have ensured we have the optimum brake package available to suit my driving. Thanks heaps team.
It's gonna be a HUGE season with 7 rounds just for the ELF Super Cup plus the NZ Champs here at Woodford Glen. The competition is gonna be tough so we are aiming for a reliable package and just wanna have fun! Only 34 days till first practice too WOW! Cheers for now ... Flash
